Sexual Assault Awareness Month calls attention to the fact that sexual violence is widespread and impacts every person in our community. While one month isn’t enough to solve the serious issue of sexual violence, this is an opportunity to open up conversations about consent and prevention efforts throughout the year. Help us reduce sexual violence in Carroll County by sharing these awareness, prevention and support activities throughout April. Come visit our community event tables or stop by the office to pick up FREE drink spike test cards and drink covers to share with your friends and loved ones…. because no one should wake up to sexual violence after a fun night on the town.

This training is open not just to law enforcement, but also firefighters, first responders, nurses, social workers, counselors… and any of our supporters who want a deep dive into the subject. It’s FREE and counts for 8 CEU’s. Register for either May 7th OR May 8th (same content both days, so pick one). We are still looking for sponsors to provide coffee / donuts and lunch each day, so let us know if you can help with that.
Here are a few other ways to show your support:
Join our Circle of Hope – Monthly donors are now literally paying for our office rent and crisis line. If everyone on this list were to pledge just $5/month, we could help one more client stay safe in temporary emergency hotel lodging, hire a lawyer to get a protection order or secure interim housing each month. YOU are their heroes!
Volunteer – We are looking for a handy person to help with a few minor repairs around our office (ex: fix/replace overhead florescent lighting, install a tiny patch of tile at the front entrance, hang our new fire extinguisher on a concrete wall), so reply to this email or give us a call (479-981-1676) if you’ve got the skills and the time. Or sign up to help with future fundraising events, distributing community outreach information, packing “go bags,” maintaining our office space, etc. #InTheSoupTogether
We’re Hiring! – We still need ONE MORE dedicated direct impact Victim Service Advocate. If you know someone passionate about supporting survivors ready to join our team, please do share our job posting to have them apply on Indeed. We are especially in need of a bilingual Spanish-speaking Advocate, por favor.
Thank you for your continued support of The Purple Flower! We truly could not do this without you. 💜
With grace and gratitude,
The Purple Flower Team
